Trail Blazers To Host Heat

NBA:

The Trail Blazers are 22 – 22 on the season after a three-game win streak, amidst taking 10 of their last 13.

Injuries to multiple players is affecting the team again this year, so it has been a full effort from whoever is available each night to reach .500

Forward Deni Avdija is having a breakout season but when he sat with a back injury, guys stepped up in his absence.

So much so that Donovan Clingan and Shaedon Sharpe were both nominated for last week’s NBA player of the week.

Portland currently sits in 9th place in the Western conference.

The Heat visit the Moda Center tonight. Tip-off at 7.

 

NFL:

The Seahawks host the Los Angeles Rams Sunday for the NFC Championship.

Head Coach Mike Macdonald commented on the team’s injury report after Wednesday’s practice saying quarterback Sam Darnold would not go all out this week as he is still managing an oblique injury.

Yesterday, Jaxon Smith-Njigba was named Offensive Player of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America. Smith-Njigba is the third receiver to earn the award since it started in 1992, joining teammate Cooper Kupp who won it as a member of the Rams in 2021.

NFC Championship Game Kickoff is 3:30 this Sunday in Seattle.

 

College baseball:

Oregon State is ranked 15th in Baseball America's preseason top-25 ranking. The Beavers have now been ranked in BA's preseason top-25 for five consecutive seasons.

It is the third top-25 mark for Oregon State, which is also seventh in Perfect Game and ranked 12th by D1Baseball.com. The Beavers, have their 2026 opener, February 13 against Michigan in Surprise, Ariz.

 

Softball- Ten Ducks, are featured on multiple preseason honors lists, including USA Softball's Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List and D1 Softball's preseason All-Americans. Oregon’s season starts February 6 at the Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida.

This week’s high school basketball coaches’ polls in Girls 5A have Redmond at number 2, Summit is 6th, and Crook County is 10th. Sisters is 5th in 3A. For the Boys in 5A Crook County is ranked 2nd, Summit is 5th. Madras is 6th in 4A, with Trinity Lutheran 2nd in the 2A polls.
