Portland lost at Washington yesterday. The Trail Blazers kept it close but eventually fell 115 -111 despite the return of Deni Avdija to the line-up. Shaedon Sharpe led all scorers with 31 points. Donovan Clingan pulled down 20 rebounds. The Blazers drop two games under .500.
Next up is a trip to Madison Square Garden for matchup with the New York Knicks Friday.
College Football:
Oregon faces a daunting November this season. The full conference schedule was released yesterday (Tu). The Ducks hit the road to take on Ohio State at the famous Horseshoe on November 7, then Michigan is at Autzen Stadium November 14. Next week East Lansing for a visit to Michigan State on November 21. The regular season finishes at home against Washington.
The Ducks will play new Pac 12 member Boise State to open the season September 5th.
Also yesterday, defensive back Dillon Thieneman earned a spot on the 2025 academic all-America first team.
Thieneman is the 16th academic all-America first-team selection in program history, and first since Bucky Irving and Bo Nix in 2023.
Today is the first of three-days of meetings for university presidents and athletic directors making up the newly formed Pac-12, including Oregon State, Washington State and seven other schools.
The athletic directors will meet at conference headquarters in the Bay area starting today, according to reports. They’ll be joined tomorrow by their nine university presidents for a group discussion. And on Friday, the presidents will meet alone to talk over the official launch of the Pac-12 in July.
This season’s Football schedule is a top priority.

The Oregon Men are back home this week, hosting UCLA tonight in Matthew Knight Arena. Coverage starts at 7:30, tip off at 8 on KBND.
The Oregon Women head to the East Coast for a two-game swing, beginning with this evening’s matchup at Rutgers starting at 4 p.m. PT.

Rick Rizzs, a Seattle Mariners announcer for 41 years will make 2026 his final season in the broadcast booth. Rizzs will speak at a Mariners press conference this morning at 10:30.

In OSAA Coaches Polls for Boys Basketball: Crook County is up to number 2 in Class 5A, Summit is number 6. Madras is ranked 5th in 4A, and in 2A Bend’s Trinity Lutheran remains ranked 2nd.
