NBA:
The Trail Blazers will try to snap a five-game losing streak tonight when the Suns visit the Moda Center.
Portland has been mentioned in numerous scenarios for trades as Thursday’s deadline nears.
Many NBA insiders believe a trade of Jerami Grant or Jrue Holiday is imminent.
Both veterans have value, and large contracts the team needs to unload.
The Blazers will still have more roster decisions to make after a trade no matter who goes.
Jrue Holiday is listed in tonight’s availability report as Questionable for personal reasons.
Deni Avdija is Doubtful with that back strain.
Tonight’s game with Phoenix is a national television game with an 8 PM tip-off.
NFL:
The Seahawks will lock in for preparations for the franchise’s fourth Super Bowl appearance, though there are still a few more media appearances for some coaches and star players, the team can focus on Sunday’s matchup with the Patriots.
Meanwhile, there’s a new scrutiny on the franchise’s ownership. Commissioner Roger Goodell denied reports the NFL fined the team for not being sold yet.
A story last week stated a sale would happen after the Super Bowl. Billionaire Jeff Bezos has been linked to being the most likely buyer.
MLB:
The Mariners have acquired All-Star second baseman Brendan Donovan from the Cardinals as part of a three-team trade that included the Rays. Donovan hit .287 with 10 home runs and 50 RBIs a year ago. In the deal, Seattle sent two prospects and a draft pick to St. Louis and infielder Ben Williamson to Tampa Bay.
MLS:
The Timbers added to their roster on Monday. Portland acquired midfielder Cole Bassett from the Colorado Rapids for up to $3.6 million. Bassett appeared in 28 games last season, scoring three goals and dishing out four assists. The Timbers will play their first preseason game Saturday against D.C. United.
