NBA:
The Trail Blazers still have Jrue Holiday and Jerami Grant on the roster after several trades around the NBA yesterday.
One of those two solid veterans has been considered likely candidates to get snapped up by a title contender but both players come with large, extended contracts.
Portland needs shooting help, but time may be running out to make a deal by today’s noon deadline.
A back-to-back with Memphis starts tomorrow.
Maybe the Blazers promotional team knows something though;
Tomorrow night is a Jrue Holiday novelty glass giveaway.
It would be awkward if Holiday was with a different team before the glasses get passed out at the Moda Center.
NFL:
The Seahawks are practicing in San Jose ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl.
After yesterday’s session, among those limited were quarterback Sam Darnold, who has been limited in every practice since injuring an oblique on the Thursday before Seattle's divisional round win over the 49ers.
Coach Mike Macdonald gave several players time off with rest including receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and defensive end Leonard Williams.
Good news on the full practice designation was for linebacker Drake Thomas who left the NFC Championship game with a shoulder injury.
New England didn’t list any significant injuries.
College Football:
Three-star 2026 athlete Dayton Raiola has committed to the Oregon Ducks, joining his older brother, quarterback Dylan Raiola, in Eugene. Dayton is expected to play tight end for the Ducks, after playing quarterback in high school.
College Baseball:
Oregon State is ranked 12th in the USA Today Coaches Poll preseason top-25.
It's the fourth top-15 ranking for the Beavers leading up to the season. Oregon State is ranked as high as seventh.
The Beavers' season opener is next Friday, the 13th against Michigan in Surprise, Arizona.
