NFL:
The Seattle Seahawks are celebrating their second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history and first since 2014. The team took down the Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl 60 from Santa Clara.
Kenneth Walker III earned MVP honors. The Seahawks running back had 160 total yards from scrimmage.
Many thought a defensive player might win the award.
At 38, Coach Mike MacDonald is the third youngest to win an NFL Championship.
NBA:
The Trail Blazers took two straight from Memphis.
Point guard Scoot Henderson played well Friday night in his season debut. But didn’t play in Saturday night’s win over the Grizzlies.
We’ll see how much run he gets tonight. Scoot is listed as probable.
Shaedon Sharpe is out again with a sore calf and Deni Avdija’s back leaves him questionable.
Tip off against the revamped 76ers is at 7 tonight.
In other Blazer news, Damian Lillard is back in the All Star weekend three-point contest, making an appearance while he recovers from his Achilles tear. The 2024-25 back-to-back champ is returning to go for a third long-distance title.
College Basketball:
Over the weekend.
The Oregon State men were blown out by Gonzaga.
The OSU Women were edged by Portland.
The Oregon Women couldn’t hang with number 9 Ohio State yesterday.
The Oregon Men played number 12 Purdue tough but came up short Saturday. The Ducks are at Indiana today. Coverage starts at 5, tip-off at 5:30 on KBND.
Softball:
The number 5 ranked Oregon Women began their season with a no-hitter Friday but lost 3 of their 5-game tournament.
The OSU Women are 3 – 2 after their season opening weekend.
The college baseball season starts this weekend.
