NBA:
The Trail Blazers Damian Lillard defended his title in the three-pointer contest during All Star weekend.
Now Dame is looking for an unprecedented 4th long distance championship, and he wants to do it against the best shooters in the Association.
Lillard is recruiting Golden State’s Steph Curry, Klay Thompson from Dallas, and the Sun’s Devin Booker, along with four other three-point specialists to compete in the 2027 contest which will be in Phoenix.
Those three are past champions.
Curry has already responded he’s ready for next year.
Portland is off until Friday for the mid-season break.
College Basketball:
The Oregon Men, fresh off snapping that 10-game losing streak are back at Mathew Knight Arena tonight for a matchup with Minnesota. Coverage starts 7 on KBND, tip-off is 7:30.
College Baseball:
Number 12 Oregon State will leave Arizona 3-1 with wins over Arizona and Stanford. They split the two games against Michigan after a 10th inning walk-off home run yesterday.
MLB:
The Seattle Mariners acquired 28-year-old left-handed reliever Josh Simpson from the Miami Marlins for cash considerations.
The M’s first spring training game is Friday.
San Francisco has their first game against the Mariners Saturday.
New manager Tony Vitello is still fielding questions from the media about the way he left University of Tennessee baseball to take the San Fran job. Vitello expressed disappointment with the way the departure from Knoxville was reported.
