College Baseball:
Oregon State is ranked as high as 7th and as low as 17th in the latest polls. Baseball America dropped them back to the 17th spot. The Writers’ have them 13th, the Coaches slot them at 12th, and D1 Baseball dot com, the publication we site as the main ranking has the Beavers at number 11.
OSU also announced 28 games will be streamed on Portland Television affiliate’s KOIN.com and KOIN+. KOIN+ is available on ROKU devices, Fire TV, Samsung, and Apple TV.
Next up the Beavs go to Texas for another preseason tournament: the Round Rock Classic starting Friday.
Oregon’s Angel Laya is the Perfect Game Freshman of the Week. The Ducks starting right fielder was also named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
Softball:
Oregon comes in at number 14 in the USA Softball poll, and 18th in the coaches’ poll.
The Ducks head back to California for the Mary Nutter Classic starting tomorrow.
Trailblazers:
The Trail Blazers are nearing their return to the court. Portland will be in action Friday for a home game against the Nuggets. The Blazers beat Denver 109-107 in their first meeting on Halloween. Portland is currently ninth in the Western Conference with a record of 27-and-29 this season.
College Football:
Oregon State athletic director Scott Barnes announced the school has partnered with consulting firm Huron to guide what the AD calls the Transition Success Plan to the revamped Pac 12 conference.
Also, the OSU Spring Football game is set for April 25th at Reser Stadium.
LOCAL:
The OSAA High School Boys Basketball Coaches’ polls have Crook County ranked 2nd in 5A with Summit coming at 7th. In 4A Madras is number 5. In 2A, Trinity Lutheran stays at number 2.
The Girls poll has Redmond number 2, Crook County 8th, and Summit 10th in 5A. Sisters is 5th in 3A
