Football Civil War On Pause Until 2028

SPORTS 2-24

College Football:

The Civil War apparently won’t be played the next two seasons.

The last time the 128-game rivalry between the Ducks and Beavers wasn’t played happened in 1944.

The schools didn’t have space on their schedules for the 2026 season. Oregon State Athletic Director Scott Barnes says the Beavers don’t have a spot for the game on their 2027 schedule either, according to the Oregonian.
Both teams say they want the series to continue and are looking ahead for a 2028 date.

College Baseball:

Oregon State slipped in the rankings following their 1 – 2 effort in the Round Rock Classic. The Beavers, now 4 – 3, are ranked 19th in d1baseball.com, Number 16 by Perfect Game, 18 in the coaches’ poll, 19th in the writers’ and all the way to 24th in the Baseball America poll. The Beavers are in Texas again for the Frisco College Baseball Classic starting Thursday.

Also yesterday, sophomore right-handed pitcher Dax Whitney has been selected as the National Pitcher of the Week by the Golden Spikes Award and D1Baseball.

Whitney tied the Oregon State single-game record with 17 strikeouts in the Beavers' 3-1 win over Baylor on Friday.

Meanwhile, Oregon’s hot start has them entering the rankings for the first time this season. The 8 – 0 Ducks are 9th in the Perfect Game poll. The U of O is in Las Vegas for a tournament this weekend.

Softball:

Oregon State standouts Jaeya Butler and Bailey Murray have swept the West Coast Conference weekly awards for player and pitcher. The Beavers went four and two last weekend, including Murray’s no-hitter Saturday.

Oregon is ranked 14th in the Softball America and USA Softball Polls.

NBA:

The Trail Blazers are back at Moda Center tonight for the Timberwolves.

Deni Avdija has been ruled out with that back injury.

Avdija has now missed 10 of the last 18 games.

Tipoff is at 7 tonight.

MLB:

Spring Training Cactus League-

San Francisco got a win over the Athletics. Giants vs Angels today.

The Seattle Mariners were shut-out by the Dodgers. The White Sox are today’s opponent. Both games start at 12:10.
