Trail Blazers Crushed By Hawks

NBA:

The Trail Blazers went 0 for 2 on the weekend getting blown out by Atlanta yesterday 135 – 101. Jrue Holiday led the team with 23 points. Donovan Clingan had a 15 point, and 15 rebound double-double, but cold shooting throughout the game kept the Blazers from ever being competitive in the contest.

Portland lost to Charlotte Saturday in a game where they got down early again and never recovered.

The Blazers are now 29 – 33 with a couple of days off. They’re staying in the Southeast with a visit to Memphis Wednesday.

 

College Basketball:

Weekend recap-

The U of O Women lost 70 – 69 to Washington yesterday. The Ducks are the 11th seed in this week’s Big 10 conference tournament playing 14 seed Purdue Wednesday.

 

The Oregon Men were also one-point losers; falling to Northwestern Saturday. The Ducks are 17th in the 18 team Big 10 with two regular season games remaining, beginning with a trip to number 10 ranked Illinois tomorrow.

 

Oregon State couldn’t rally for lame duck coach Wayne Tinkle and were blown out in their final West Coast Conference regular season game 93 – 72 to Santa Clara. The Beavers head into their final West Coast Conference tournament this week as the number 4 seed.

 

The OSU Women were edged in overtime by Loyola Marymount. The Beavers are a number 4 seed in the WCC tournament.

Both men’s and women’s tourney’s start Thursday.

 

College Baseball:

19th ranked Oregon State held off Iowa yesterday in the Frisco College Baseball Classic in Frisco, Texas. The Beavs lost to Alabama Saturday. Pitcher Dax Whitney had another stellar game Friday with 11 strikeouts in the 2 -1 win over Houston.

Number 9 Oregon went 2 -1 in the Live Like Lou Las Vegas College Baseball Classic as the Ducks held on to beat Vanderbilt yesterday. U of O slugger Maddox Moloney hit his 3rd homerun of the season.

 

SOFTBALL:

Number 17 Oregon has now won six straight after cruising to wins as the tournament host of the Oregon Classic.

Oregon State went 1 – 3 in Fullerton California falling to 8th ranked UCLA yesterday.

 

LOCAL:

High School State Wrestling Tournaments: The Crook County Cowgirls are the 6A/5A state champs. Redmond and Mountain View earned individual titles.

Boys 5A saw Crook County take 2nd, Redmond 4th, and individual titles for grapplers from Crook County, and Bend High.
