SPORTS 3-10
NBA:
The Trail Blazers lost to Charlotte last night. Portland let the game get away in the 4th quarter when they gave up a lead. However, and I don’t say this very often: that game was officiated poorly. The refs weren’t the reason the Blazers lost but that was a hard game to watch for basketball fans.
Next up the Jazz visit the Moda Center on Friday.
College Basketball:
The OSU Women lost to Gonzaga yesterday in the final of the West Coast Conference Tournament.
The Beavers’ postseason is likely to continue though, as they could play in the College Basketball Invitational tournament.
The Oregon Men lost to Maryland in the first round of the Big 10 conference tournament yesterday.
The Ducks season ends at 12 – 20 overall; head coach Dana Altman’s worst record in his 16 years coaching in Eugene.
College Baseball:
Number 15 Oregon shutout Xavier last night. The Ducks and Musketeers go at it again this afternoon from PK Park.
College Football:
OSU held the first practice of the spring under new head coach Jamarcus Shephard.
The first-year head coach says his staff and players are focusing on all aspects of the game: offense, defense and special teams.
Coach Shephard also told the media yesterday there may be more changes to the roster this spring.
The University of Oregon begins their spring practice tomorrow. The Ducks have significant assistant coaching changes with the departure of the offensive and defensive coordinators. Head coach Dan Lanning has named previous tight ends coach Drew Mehringer to O coordinator and secondary coach Chris Hampton is now heading the defense.
SOFTBALL:
The coaches’ poll ranked Oregon number 18 this week. The Ducks are 19th in the USA Softball poll with Big Ten play starting this weekend against Penn State.
Oregon State plays the Nittany Lions first though, with a matchup later today at Kelly Field.
