SPORTS 3-27

OSU AD RETIRES:

Oregon State University’s Vice President and Athletic Director Scott Barnes will retire August 31 after seven years leading the Beavers’ athletics program.

Barnes will continue as a senior advisor through 2027.

He’s credited with championing the launch of the new Pac-12 Conference and overseeing upgrades to key sports facilities. While OSU highlights his legacy some fans and alumni had called for his departure, raising concerns over leadership decisions and competitive results.

OSU President Jayathi Murthy says Barnes’ guidance will remain vital during this transition, and an outside consulting firm will lead the search for a new Athletic Director to lead the Beavers.
