COLLEGE BASEBALL:
Final regular season Poll-a-palooza-
Oregon State is ranked 6th by the sportswriters’, 7th in D1 Baseball, the Coaches’, and Baseball America polls. Perfect Game ranks them 9th.
The Beavers’ Jacob Galloway is a semi-finalist for the nation’s catcher of the year, the Buster Posey award.
Oregon is ranked 11th in Perfect Game, 12th in the Writers’ and Coaches poll, 14th in D1 Baseball, and 18th in Baseball America.
In regular season awards: Angel Laya was named Big 10 Freshman of the Year.
Burke-Lee Mabeus is a semi-finalist for the Buster Posey award.
The Ducks are the number 3 seed in this week’s big 10 tournament. It means they won’t have to play in the double elimination round starting tomorrow.
UO’s first game will be Friday.
NBA:
Portland Trail Blazers coaching search includes Minnesota assistant Micah Nori, Greg St Jean from the Lakers, and even former coach Terry Stotts.
WNBA:
The Fire got back in the win column. Portland beat the Connecticut Sun 83-82 at home. Bridget Carleton and Sarah Ashlee Barker led the team with 18 points apiece. The Fire will hit the road Wednesday to face the Indiana Fever.
LOCAL:
This summer, Haulin’ Aspen is introducing a three-person relay option for the Full Marathon; each runner gets their own section.
The trail race marathon, half-marathon, and half as’ start and finish at Wanoga Sno Park.
Haulin’ Aspen takes place August 8th.
