Ohio State, Oregon Lead Preseason Coaches' Poll

COLLEGE FOOTBALL:

Fall Camp is starting in Corvallis for new Oregon State head coach JaMarcus Shephard looking to rebuild the Beavers in the new Pac 12.

As the Ducks begin practice in Eugene some preseason watch list announcements: Brandon Finney Jr., Koi Perich and A’Mauri Washington are up for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy for the best defensive player.

Washington was joined by defensive lineman Bear Alexander and center Pancho Laloulu on the Outland Trophy list for best lineman.

And quarterback Dante Moore makes preseason Maxwell Award given to the best all-around player.

The countdown to the start of the college football season continues today with the release of the preseason coaches' poll. Ohio State will open the campaign on top of the rankings, followed by Oregon. Georgia, Texas and Notre Dame round out the top five.

 

NBA:

In Portland, Trail Blazers’ management are asking fans to show up to this morning’s City Council meeting to support the team during a public hearing.

This as city leaders are looking at paying $120-million to renovate the Moda Center.

Funding would also come from Multnomah County, state money would carry the bulk of it at 365-million.

A council vote on the proposal is set for Wednesday the 12th.

 

NFL:

The Seahawks rookie safety Bud Clark appears to be a breakout star for this season’s Hard Knocks series on HBO. But the 2rd round pick is proving it on the field, as he has been getting reps at several spots in the defensive backfield, including with the first-team defense.

 

LOCAL:

The annual Haulin’ Aspen full all-trail marathon, a half marathon, a 6.5-mile and a full marathon relay is Saturday. The race starts and finishes at Wanoga Sno Park with the course through the Forest trails.
