COLLEGE FOOTBALL:
Fall Camp is underway.
Another day, another pre-season watchlist: Poncho is a Rimington Trophy candidate again. Iapani Laloulu was a finalist in his junior season, and is once again up for the top Center award.
Ducks defensive coordinator Chris Hampton said after yesterday’s practice the team is installing new schemes and self-scouting.
The team is hoping to be able to practice outside today after indoor sessions the past two days because of wildfire smoke.
In Corvallis, both offensive coordinator Mitch Dahlen, and defensive coordinator Mike MacIntyre at yesterday’s media session spoke about players getting bigger and faster over the summer.
Both U of O and OSU plan to have players in pads today and this weekend.
NBA:
The State of Oregon has hired a Special Assistant Attorney General to advise the Oregon Department of Administrative Services on the 600-million dollar renovation project at the Moda Center.
Multnomah County commissioners yesterday (Th) approved on a 4 – 1 vote contributing 100-million dollars to the reno.
Although, there is still a question of where that hundred-mill is coming.
WNBA:
In WNBA action, the Fire crushed Toronto 97-83 at home to end their five-game skid. Portland improved to 12-and-19 on the season. The Fire will host the Seattle Storm tomorrow. Seattle is just 6-and-27 and riding a 10-game losing streak.
LOCAL:
The annual Haulin’ Aspen full all-trail marathon, a half marathon, a 6.5-mile and a full marathon relay is tomorrow.
The race starts and finishes at Wanoga Sno Park with the course through the Forest trails.
The Bend All-stars 12U Little League team has a Go Fund Me for family travel expenses to Southern California for the Northwest Regionals!
Bend represents Oregon against Washington tomorrow night at 6, broadcast on ESPN+.
