COLLEGE FOOTBALL:
In Eugene,
DB Brandon Finney Jr., LB Matayo Uiagalelei and DL A'Mauri Washington are on the preseason watch list for the 2026 Chuck Bednarik Award, which is presented to the outstanding defensive player in college football.
Finney and Washington were previously on the watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which also recognizes the nation's top defensive player, and they were both named preseason all-Americans.
The Ducks held one last Fall Camp scrimmage Saturday.
Coach Dan Lanning said the Defense got the better of the Offense, and he saw many bright spots from all sides of the ball.
“You know, there's some takeaways. The kicking game was much better today. Rocco did a good job. He's 4 for 4. Gage did a good job. We had good kick locations from our punters. But overall, really good compete and something to build off of once we watched the film.”
Lanning’s comments on the ability for 5th year players coming back from the NFL to play again in college drew national media coverage after he called it ‘unfair to the sport”.

Friday’s court ruling blocking 5th year players means defensive back Jaheim Patterson and Center Van Wells would not be eligible.
The Beavers held their final camp scrimmage which served as another audition for who will be starting quarterback.

The Seahawks placed receiver Jake Bobo on injured reserve Saturday, the result of the knee injury he suffered in Friday's joint practice with the Titans. He’ll miss the entire season.
Rookie safety Bud Clark was carted off the field during last night’s game in Tennessee.
Seattle started their 2nd string offense and scored on their first two possessions.
WNBA:
In WNBA action, the Storm lost to the Wings 92-70 in Texas, while the Fire fell at home to Washington 105-100. Seattle is now 7-and-31 on the season. Portland sits at 15-and-22. The Fire will visit Dallas tomorrow. The Storm are back in action when they host Toronto on Wednesday.
