Offensive Coordinator Mitch Dahlen spoke to the press after practice yesterday about why Sophomore Braiden Atkinson was picked to be starting quarterback.
“What he does well is he takes care of the ball and the ball just moves. It's kind of what I talked about before is he is able to move the ball down the field and we've tracked every single drive with those free call periods and he's been awesome.”

The Ducks have a day off practice today, before getting into a regular season practice schedule starting tomorrow and this weekend.
Head Coach Dan Lanning said during his media availability yesterday the team’s leaders have set an example during training camp.
“The continuity you get from going to practice every single day, getting out there, I mean, you become a better team each and every day, and then there's been really good back and forth, right? Whether it's offense, defense, special teams, I think in all those areas, we're proven in a lot of situations that we're making sure we expose our players to, but overall, I think we have a group that's hungry and, and working really hard.”

The Big Ten is taking a stand against a potential wave of NFL players who want to return to school to play football. Conference leaders voted today to block anyone who didn't withdraw from the NFL Draft, appeared on a roster or signed a pro contract from playing. The league drafted the rule after a Louisiana judge cleared the way for at least two players who were in NFL training camps to sign with LSU for a fifth season under the NCAA's "five in five" eligibility model.
NFL:
The sale of the Seattle Seahawks has cleared a major hurdle. Brad Ford reports.
“NFL owners are approving the record sale of the Seattle Seahawks to an ownership group led by the Khosla family. Multiple reports say league owners unanimously approved the deal Wednesday during a special meeting in Atlanta. The decision clears the final major hurdle before the sale can be completed. The Khosla group agreed in July to buy the team from the Paul G. Allen Estate for an NFL-record deal worth more than nine-point-six-billion-dollars. The sale is expected to become final within the next week, ending 29 years of Allen family ownership.”

MLS:
The Portland Timbers have agreed to transfer forward Kevin Kelsey to a professional football team in Glasgow, Scotland. A club source said Kelsey will join the Rangers in a club record thirteen-million-dollar transfer. Kelsey joined the Timbers in January of 2025 for a fee just under six-million-dollars. He has scored sixteen goals in 43 MLS appearances and leads the Timbers with nine goals this season.
