COLLEGE FOOTBALL:
Oregon State got their first win of the season when they blew past a highly ranked FCS team; the Montana Grizzlies Saturday night.
The 52-17 final included a record-tying performance from quarterback Braiden Atkinson who accounted for six touchdowns; 5 passing and 1 rushing.
Freshman wide receiver Jesse Legree had one of those TD receptions while racking up another 100 yards receiving.
During the post-game press conference, head coach JaMarcus Shephard thanked a rowdy Beaver Nation crowd for filling up Reser, and said this is just the beginning:
“I do think that we've done a great job with these young men understanding that we have to build a foundation for our program, and I think some of them have understood that going forward our expectations continue to rise within our football team.”
OSU goes back on the road to El Paso, Texas for a meeting with UTEP this Saturday.
Oregon moved up a notch to the 20th spot in this week’s Associated Press poll after piling up 84 points in the shutout of Portland State Friday night.
That total is a modern-era scoring record.
The blowout allowed several 3rd and 4th stringers to see the field with all four Ducks quarterbacks getting action.
The 2 – 1 Ducks begin Big 10 play Saturday in Los Angeles at 12th ranked USC.
