(Silverton, OR)  --  Marion County authorities say a Portland man died after attempting a BASE jump from a one-thousand-foot tower near Silverton.  Sheriff's deputies say it appears something went wrong with Zachary Sommer's parachute as he leaped from the communications tower in a remote area early yesterday morning.  The tower is on private property, but the sheriff's office isn't revealing the location.
