Wildfires Continue In Central Washington

(Alta Lake, WA)  --  Officials say one person is confirmed dead and at least 150 homes have been destroyed as the Carlton Complex of wildfires in Central Washington continues to advance.  But there's optimism that rain forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday will help slow the encroachment of the fires, which have scorched more than 238-thousand acres.  Authorities say 67-year-old Rob Koczewski, a retired Washington State Patrol trooper, suffered a fatal heart attack while trying to save his home in Okanogan County.  The Chiwaukum Creek fire is located northwest of Leavenworth, where firefighters are attempting to keep it from advancing east over Highway 2.
