(Newport, OR)  --  Police are investigating the death of a Coos County man during a fishing trip off Newport.  Authorities say 70-year-old Eugene Elmer Compton of Charleston was found dead aboard the vessel "Carolyn Ruth," the morning after he set out on a fishing expedition Saturday afternoon.  Oregon State Police say it's likely Compton died of natural causes.
