Fires In Gorge, Metro Areas Sparked By High Winds

(Portland, OR)  --  Portland Fire & Rescue officials say they responded to more than 30 fire-related incidents in the metro area yesterday.  High winds are being blamed for a number of fires that broke out in the metro area and in the Columbia River Gorge.  A tree branch fell onto power lines around three p.m. yesterday, triggering a blaze that ran up a hillside on Cook Underwood Road at S-R 14 on the Washington side of the Gorge.  A red flag warning is in effect through Sunday for the Portland area.
