(Washington, DC) -- New figures from the U.S. Census Bureau show Oregon and Washington experienced increases in their poverty rates between 2012 and 2013. The rate of poverty in Oregon grew from 13-point-five to just over 15-percent. Washington's poverty rate increased from 13-and-a-half-percent to 14-point-one percent. The Census Bureau says 42 states and the District of Columbia showed no statistical changes in their respective poverty rates or the number of residents in poverty.
