Task Force Recommends Revival Of Taxes To Fund WA State Parks

(Olympia, WA)  --  A task force appointed by Washington Governor Jay Inslee is recommending revival of two taxes to fund state parks and the outdoor recreation industry.  The Everett "Herald" reports the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Parks and Outdoor Recreation wants to reinstate the sales tax on bottled water and the excise tax on motor homes and travel trailers to generate revenue to keep parks open.  Some of the revenue would also fund new initiatives in the Department of Commerce to put outdoor recreation on the same level as other sectors of the Washington state economy.  Inslee says he'll work with lawmakers to try to put the panel's recommendations in place.
