(Newport, OR) -- A fishing crew is lucky to be alive after the Coast Guard rescued them when their boat sank off the Oregon coast. Five people aboard the Blazer sent a mayday call around 4:30 a.m. Saturday to inform the Coast Guard their boat was taking on water west of Siletz Bay. The crew then put on cold water immersion suits and climbed onto a life raft. Three people were rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter and the other two by a Coast Guard boat. Three of the crew had minor injuries.
