(Portland, OR) -- A Portland man who trained with the Tuskegee Airmen in World War Two is dead at age 94. Carl Diez [[ dies ]] was a lifelong Portland resident, who graduated from Franklin High School and the University of Portland. He went through training to fly with the famous African-American fighter pilots, but was unable to participate in the European Theater of operations because of a depth-perception problem. Services for Deiz will be held Friday at noon at St. Philip the Deacon Episcopal Church at 120 Northeast Knott.
