Hales Asks Council To Approve Bidding On Body Cams

(Portland, OR)  --  Mayor Charlie Hales is asking the Portland City Council to approve the bidding process on body cameras for the Portland Police Bureau.  Hales says he wants officers outfitted with the cameras by next fall.  A spokesman for the Police Bureau tells KATU-TV that Chief Mike Reese would like to have all 600 officers wear the cameras, but it's not known yet how much the bureau would receive in federal money for the program.
