Bill Would Require More Notice For Rent Hikes

(Olympia, WA)  --  A bill that will be introduced in the upcoming session of the Washington State Legislature would require more notice to renters in the event of rent increases.  The measure, sponsored by Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles of Seattle, would require landlords to give tenants a 90-day notice of plans to raise rent.  State law currently requires 30 days.  The Rental Housing Association of Washington says it will fight the bill.
