(Salem, OR) -- The number of hours per school year will soon increase in Oregon. The state Board of Education has approved a plan that will increase the number of hours for K-through-eight students to at least 900 per year. Ninth-through-eleventh-graders will be required to attend school for at least 990 hours per year, and 12th-graders at least 966 hours per year. Board of Education officials say the plan is a way to better prepare students for college.
