(Portland, OR)  --  Public hearings are set to begin this evening on an update of the Sauvie Island and Multnomah Channel Rural Area Plan.  Discussions will be held on the plan, which concerns land-use and transportation planning issues, and includes ideas and proposals from community committees.  Hearings will also take place on March 2nd and 16th, and each will be held between 6:30 and nine p.m. at Sauvie Island Academy on Northwest Charlton Road.
