Ballot Measure On Impeachment Proposed By Lawmaker

(Salem, OR)  --  A lawmaker is proposing that the Oregon Legislature approve a ballot measure that seeks to establish an executive impeachment process.  Salem Representative Jodi Hack says the system would allow lawmakers to try the governor for serious crimes, much like the authority Congress has to impeach the president.  "The Oregonian" reports Oregon is the only state that has no impeachment process.  In order for the item to be placed on the statewide ballot, it will need a majority vote in both the House and Senate.
