(Salem, OR)  --  A bill requiring background checks for private gun sales in Oregon is now law.  Governor Kate Brown signed the measure yesterday, saying it must be made harder for dangerous people to get guns in order to keep Oregon's communities safe.  The law is intended to prevent firearms sales to people who are legally prohibited from owning guns, including felons and those committed for mental health treatment.
