Proposed Impeachment Resolution Likely To Fizzle

(Salem, OR)  --  A proposed resolution to ask Oregon voters to give the Legislature impeachment powers is likely to die in committee.  "The Oregonian" reports the resolution was drafted in response to the influence-peddling investigation that forced the resignation of Governor John Kitzhaber.  A spokesperson for Senate Majority Leader Diane Rosenbaum of Portland says there are no plans to schedule the bill.  Oregon is the only state in the union that has no process for impeaching and ousting its governor or other statewide elected officials.
