(Dallas, OR)  --  A Polk County sheriff's deputy is recovering from minor injuries he suffered while trapped in his burning patrol car.  Officials say Deputy Shon Latty was on his way to assist an Independence police officer yesterday when he crashed into another vehicle and traveled into a ditch, and his cruiser caught fire.  Another Polk County deputy and two Dallas police officers were able to pull Latty from the wreckage, and he was taken to Salem Hospital.  No one in the second vehicle was seriously hurt.
