Independent Party Of Oregon Achieves Major-Party Status

(Salem, OR)  --  The Independent Party of Oregon now has major-party status.  Secretary of State Jeanne Atkins says the party has more than five percent of the registered voters in the state, as required by law.  The status means the state will finance and administer the Independent Party of Oregon's 2016 primary election.  The party's winning candidates will appear on general election ballots, along with Democratic and Republican candidates.
