(North Plains, OR) -- A parole fugitive who shot a detective and killed a Hillsboro Police Department K-9 in 1997 is back in custody. Authorities say Reiner Schmolling, Jr. was tracked down by K-9 units and apprehended yesterday in a wooded area near North Plains. Schmolling was being sought after it was learned he was involved in a fight with another man Monday. He's now being held in the Washington County Jail.
