(Bellingham, WA) -- The Haggen [[ HAY-gun ]] supermarket chain is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company, which submitted the filing yesterday in federal court in Delaware, listed more than a dozen creditors, the largest of which is Unified Grocer, which is owed nearly 15-million-dollars. Haggen announced last week that it's suing Albertsons for one-billion-dollars, accusing it of anti-competitive practices. Haggen says it was forced to lay off hundreds of employees and shut down nearly a fifth of the stores it had purchased from Albertsons and Safeway.
