Oregon Jobless Rate Up, Despite Job Gains

(Salem, OR)  --  Despite a rise in the number of jobs, Oregon's August unemployment rate is at six-point-one percent, up from July's five-point-nine percent.  The Oregon Employment Department reports the state added about 44-hundred jobs last month, following a revised gain of 74-hundred jobs the month before.  State officials say Oregon's payroll employment has grown by more than 60-thousand jobs over the past year.
