(Gresham, OR) -- Gresham-Barlow School District officials say the subject matter of a student's T-shirt wasn't wrong, but the fact that there was a picture of a military rifle included with it was. Alan Holmes, an eighth-grader at Dexter McCarthy Middle School in Gresham, says he wore the shirt because it symbolizes support for U.S. troops. He says the principal of the school told him earlier this week the shirt didn't meet the school dress code, and he was told to change the shirt or go home. The school district says "weapons on a shirt are not appropriate in a school setting."
