(Portland, OR) -- A proposal to establish a district for pot-smoking tourists in Portland is dead, at least for the time being. The Portland City Council voted yesterday to reject a proposal by Commissioner Dan Saltzman to set up a "Green Light District." It would allow marijuana retail shops downtown and in the Lloyd District to be exempt from having to put at least a thousand feet between themselves and other pot shops. Mayor Charlie Hales says he would be open to discussions about a similar proposal in the future.
