(Portland, OR)  --  The Portland City Council is expected to vote soon on whether to raise downtown parking meter rates.  The current rate is a dollar-60 per hour, and an increase to two dollars has been recommended by a council subcommittee.  Portland Bureau of Transportation officials told KOIN-TV that the goal is to create more parking-space turnover in the downtown meter district.  Public hearings on the issue are scheduled for December.
