(Olympia, WA)  --  A state of emergency is in effect in Washington in response to a series of storms that moved across the Northwest during the past few days.  Governor Jay Inslee issued the declaration yesterday, activating the National Guard and authorizing state agencies to provide resources to cities and counties requesting help.  The storms caused widespread damage, knocked out electricity for hundreds of thousands of people, and resulted in three deaths.
