Portland Police Officer Assigned To Desk Duty Following Tweet

(Portland, OR)  --  A Portland police officer is on reassignment to desk duty, after he issued a tweet about the Black Lives Matter and Don't Shoot Portland protests planned for Friday.  The Police Bureau says Officer John Hurlman posted the tweet, which said "Black Lives Matter is planning to protest at Lloyd Center on black Friday. Oh joy, stuck late again at work to babysit these fools."  Acting Police Chief Donna Henderson says Hurlman's tweet is not a reflection on how members of the Police Bureau view community groups or their peaceful expression of free speech.  Hurlman's wife told KATU-TV that her husband has a good heart and wasn't trying to belittle the protesters' cause.
