(Portland, OR)  --  Triple-A is reporting a drop in Portland-area gas prices as the new year approaches.  The average for regular is two-37 a gallon, nearly a penny lower than yesterday's average.  Regular gas averaged about two-53 a gallon in Portland at this time last year.
