(Seattle, WA) -- The Washington Education Association board of directors says it will join a legal challenge to the state's new charter-school law. The Legislature recently passed a measure to use lottery revenue to fund charter schools, in response to a state Supreme Court ruling that said using general-fund money for charter schools is unconstitutional. The WEA says the new law still doesn't meet the state's standards for funding, accountability, or public education. Other plaintiffs involved in the court challenge include the Washington Federation of State Employees, the United Food and Commercial Workers, and the American Federation of Teachers.
