Hales Meets With Residents On Planned Homeless Shelter

(Portland, OR)  --  There's no set date for the opening of a planned homeless shelter in Southeast Portland.  Mayor Charlie Hales met last night with area residents, who wanted more information on the facility that's to be housed in a vacant building on Southeast 13th Avenue and Morrison Street.  City officials say the shelter is intended to help provide services for the growing number of homeless people camped out around Portland.  The city plans to lease the building from the Portland school district to house up to 100 homeless people.
