Parents Call For Resignation Of PPS Superintendent

(Portland, OR)  --  Angry parents of children attending Portland public schools are calling for the resignation of Superintendent Carole Smith.  School district officials met again last night with parents to answer questions about water-quality testing that found elevated levels of lead in drinking water at schools.  Smith says the district plans to post lead-testing results immediately on the PPS website and use lead filters that are better suited to keep drinking water within EPA guidelines.  Portland schools began using bottled water this week after elevated amounts of lead were found in the tap water at two schools.
