Akawana Fire Grows Beyond 2,000 Acres

(Sisters, OR)  --  Officials say a wildfire in Deschutes County has grown to more than two-thousand acres.  The Akawana Fire started Tuesday about 13 miles north of Sisters, between Camp Sherman and Lake Billy Chinook.  The Oregon Department of Forestry says winds with gusts to 30 miles per hour have fueled the spread of the fire.  About twelve-hundred homes are under threat.
