(Oregon City, OR)  --  Opening statements are to be delivered today in the trial of a former Gladstone police sergeant.  Lynn Edward Benton is accused of conspiring with friend Susan Campbell and her son to murder Benton's wife, Debbie Higbee-Benton.  Higbee-Benton's body was found in her beauty salon in May 2011.  An autopsy showed the victim was shot and beaten.
