(Boring, OR) -- A driver won't face charges after he struck and killed a woman in Boring with his work truck last March. Clackamas County prosecutors say 53-year-old Brian Schaffer was driving his truck home from a job site when he hit and killed Katherine Rusk on 282nd Avenue near Halsey Road. Schaffer left the scene, but officials say he later contacted authorities after seeing a news story on the crash and told investigators he thought he had hit a deer, but turned around and looked for the animal and didn't see anything in the heavy rainstorm. The DA declined to press charges after investigators verified Schaffer's alibi.
