Wyman To Push For Checking Citizenship Of WA Voters

(Olympia, WA)  --  Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman says she'll ask the Legislature to pass a law that allows a citizenship check on voters in the state.  Wyman says while U.S. citizenship is a requirement to vote in Washington and voting illegally is a felony in the state, the Secretary of State's Office and county auditors are not allowed to check the citizenship of voters.  Wyman says her office has fielded many questions about the citizenship of accused Cascade Mall shooter Arcan Cetin, who was born in Turkey but completed all legal steps to register to vote in Washington before participating in the last three election cycles.
